Save your Sundays! From my time teaching in Catholic schools. Re planning and worksheets. Concentrates on the Creation, St Francis of Assisi, Padre Pio and Hinduism. Consists of planning, powerpoint, worksheets. Plus cloze worksheets on Aesop. 37 mb of stuff so good value.

I’ve combined all my planning from the schools I taught in. I was in a few schools in the U.K., quite a few of them Catholic. There is a massive amount of planning for you to sift through. Years range all the way through from 4 year olds to 11 year olds. There’s some great powerpoints, lesson plans, sheets, even a play or two. You’ll have to sift through them as I am enjoying my retirement too much to do that! You get over 250 mb of stuff (300 plus files)

Four Weeks Gandhi work. Plus stuff on Roald Dahk Matilda. All on word documents. lots of great ideas. A few other goodies thrown in for good measure. Plenty of grammar as well with some great powerpoints. the zip file contains loads. I have uploaded a few examples too so you get the feel. sample planning : L.O: Understand who Mahatma Gandhi was. Success Criteria  Use limited information to deduce and infer.  Describe why Mahatma Gandhi was so well known and influential.  Consider what you would like to find out about him. Start by showing the phrase ‘An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.’ In table groups discuss what you think this means and what type of person you think may have said it. Feedback, discuss and put on working wall. Reveal that it was a man called Mahatma Gandhi who said this. Show the trailer to ‘Gandhi’ DVD (1982). All groups to complete a KWL grid. What do I know? What do I want to know? What have I learnt? APP links: L.O: Use L5 adjectives to analyse a real character from history. Success Criteria  Take useful notes on a subject.  Generate L5 adjectives and phrases.  Use alliteration if possible. Use PowerPoint to discuss Gandhi’s life further – children to make notes in SODA books. Give each pair a minute to decide on one fact they think should be on working wall. Make notes on working wall about his life to include: Helped free Indian people from British Rule Non violent protest based on courage and truth Different ways of protesting Started in South Africa then India Governments were forced to listen to him and negotiate Encouraged people to make their own resources rather than buying British. Used fasting as a protest and a penance Spent time in prison Is known as the ‘Father of the Nation’ Birthday is a public holiday in India. Children to have a picture of Gandhi in the middle of their page. Annotate with L5 adjectives and phrases to describe him. Fire group (AA): Extended by CN to include alliterative phrases that could be newspaper headlines of his life. Water Group (A): Working independently. Air group (BA): Supported by assistant.

I’m putting up a series of lesson for Christmas. RE themed. Catholic flavour. You get a nice powerpoint. Plus some planning and worksheets. I’ll put up the others if there is demand.

Lots of great planning from my teaching career in Primary schools. Nice powerpoints. Nice fun stuff too. Good value as you get a lot of stuff. I taught from Reception to year 6 so something for everyone.

For year 6 complete planning all terms. Easily adaptable up or down, so will save you hours. Catholic in flavour but other religions included. My planning and worksheets from various schools on Divali and associated themes. Lots of ideas you can hone. Colourful powerpoints you can show and add material to. sample To use skimming and scanning skills to read information texts and identify the main features in structure and language. I can identify the features of an information text. I can create subheadings for my information text. I can choose relevant information for my note taking. Starter: Go over what skimming and scanning skills are with the class. What is the difference between fiction and non-fiction texts? Think of as many features as you can. Introduction: Explain that by the end of the week we will be making some informative leaflets, however, we must first research what we would like to include within our leaflets. What is an information text? What does it do? Look at the leaflets on your tables. Create a checklist as a table. Introduction (what is the text about?) Each paragraph is a main idea. Sub headings Questions to make the reader think Use formal and impersonal language. Talk about ‘people’ and ‘they’. Try not to use personal pronouns, such as I or me. Stick to the facts Some descriptive phrases Conclusion to sum up. Diagrams Technical vocabulary Text boxes Present tense Third person This will be used later on to inform them of their own structure and design for their leaflet. Move onto Diwali and researching the topic: What do you already know about Diwali? Let’s share our ideas. What questions do we want to know the answers to? Today, you are going to start your research for your information text on Diwali. Think of a title Think of your sub headings (nice to have a question) Collect your notes (what skills will you be using? Skim, scan, note). Collect diagrams (make notes as to where they are) Chn to be given a grid to write their four question on that they will then research. In your notes: Get as much technical vocabulary as you can. Get as much information as you can. Main: To collect notes for your information texts from iPads. Look at Kidrex. Including videos
